Velvet has always been used to bring bold, eye-catching style to a space but, right now, it's having a moment in a way that feels fresher and more approachable. This sumptuous, warm fabric adds to spaces that have a collected, layered look, and it can feel both soft and rich at the same time.

“Velvet has a reputation for being formal, many times seen in jewel tones and rich neutrals and used in heavy drapes. And while I appreciate that history, I personally love using velvet in completely unexpected ways,” says Kim Armstrong, owner and principal designer of Kim Armstrong Interior Design in North Texas.
